Tuesday, April 19th @ The White Horse:

FELL CITY GIRL - Excellent, post-rock/indie-rock from Oxford town. Think Radiohead, Red Jetson, Pink Floyd, Godspeed!..

Go on, treat yourself to some quotes:

"Fell City Girl are on early, and they come from the Radiohead corner of songwriting, with a guitar sound shimmering and cascading into the distance in rather a wonderful way. They’re almost too perfect. Young. Great voice. Well fashioned songs. Confident. They could do anything. Just keep playing, don’t believe your press and don’t try too hard– then it will happen. In a way, they have the responsibility of introducing a new generation to the indie-tinged stadium epics that they have by the hatful. Oh, but the last track in tonight’s set isn’t one of those - it was fantastic and it reminded me of Ride, a mashed-up, reverb-laden mess, which ended with a bit of disorder. More like that, please."

Oxford Bands March 2005

"Its not uncommon here at DiS to receive demos from bands who aspire to sound just like their heroes (and then proceed to sincerely list their influences). And yet, when the button is activated, the only coherent noise emerging is one of a bunch of sixth formers perfecting the art of covering their favourite album during a free period. Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Oxford's Fell City Girl, a four piece whose only real distraction is to make their next piece of music more grandiose than the last.

Fell City Girl have their sights set on a higher plain than many of their contemporaries. Every song on this demo could, and probably will be, a single in its own right. The word "filler" obviously has no place in Fell City Girl's vocabulary.the sound of an unmastered Jeff Buckley recording receiving the full makeover of a Muse sized skyscraper"

Drowned in Sound October 2004

"Put simply, Fell City Girl are the best band to emerge in Oxford this year - mark them down under ‘something special'"

Nightshift August 2004

THE WUTARS - Wycombe's new indie-pop sensations. Harmonies, jangle and actual tunes. Like The Libertines meets Teenage Fanclub.

I LOVE POLAND - Denial favourites. Wonderfully sparse and simplistic pop from just a bass guitar, a sampler and two bored looking indie kids.

WITH STONES IN HIS POCKETS - Epic. Silver Mt. Zion, Explosions loving side project from Monkey Do Tricks. They're discussing getting a choir in for the gig. No, really.

It will start at 8. And it will cost £5.
